The title of this piece is “Carlsbad Soul” because the picture portrays the nightlife of our beautiful San Diego beach. The picture was taken at the Carlsbad Beach right next to the power plant at about eight P.M. The picture portrays the compositional rule of the Rule of Thirds with the palm trees falling in the left third of the screen. The photo was shot with a Nikon D550 paired with a Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 12-24mm f/4G IF-ED Lens. The photo was manipulated in Photoshop CC 2015. I didn’t make many changes to the original photo except change the brightness to make the stars pop a little more. My photo has been entered in the division of San Diego County Lifestyles because it illuminates what San Diego is all about. When people picture California, especially San Diego, they think of the beach, palm trees and active nightlife. My picture shows all three of those factors. The picture was printed on Epson Glossy Photo Paper from the Epson P800 digital printer.
